The Old School Square Historic District is the largest of Delray Beach's five historic districts and the only one listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district covers a multi block area between the Atlantic Avenue downtown core and the Pineapple Grove arts district to the north, and includes the famous Banker's Row along NE 1st Avenue.
Architectural character is one of the district's defining features. About 45% of buildings are Frame Vernacular, with another 21% Masonry Vernacular, and the remainder a mix of Craftsman bungalow, Mission, and Mediterranean Revival styles built between 1902 and 1945.
